Recommended Posts
Actually, hold the OS. I think we have a copy of Windows 7 we bought a while back for a different computer that never worked out.
Is there anything I should know about this build for future reference? Like, say I want to upgrade later down the road, what would be the best place to start at?

This is a pretty solid build, but you can always add more RAM and a better graphics card.

Sorry for the double post, but my Dad had a question I can't answer because of my lack of knowledge in this subject.
Christopher

He wanted to know if I'm sure that the motherboard was compatible with the graphics card. He said something about only having certain ports or something, and it went right over my head. He knows what he's talking about when it comes to building the computer himself, as his job is to build servers. But, he doesn't know anything about prices and pieces on gaming PCs.

Also, my Dad was looking at some prebuilt gaming PC's he saw on Amazon for around the same price. I'm pretty sure I know that they're not going to be as good as this build, but I need to know why so I don't go into the room saying, "This is better because it is."

Here's one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229285&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-_-pla-_-NA-_-NA

Thanks for the help, once again. Edited by Time

Tell him that the board I picked out has 2 PCI Express 2.0 x16 ports, and all the updated graphics cards are compatible with that port on the motherboard. Also, tell him that you don't have to worry about on-board graphics, because the board I've picked out does not have one.

The only complaint I have with that one, is the 6670 is < 6770 I've picked out, but it'll be fine for what you're using.
