Survival: Intellect vs Primitivity

Recommended Posts

Who do you think would survive better in the wild, a man with superior intellect, or a man with superior primitive instinct and physicality?

Superior intellect, because if you work smart you don't have to work hard.

A combination of both but on a what if scale? Definitely primitive instinct and physicality. Why? Well to start off with if you have no instinct in the wild you're dead. Intellect (You never specified what kind of intellect you have) would not do all to well without physicality (strength) and instinct in a survival situation. For example, if you have the strength to cut down a tree you can survive, knowing how photosynthesis happens and how a tree grows will not help you much in surviving, you can be clever in your ways but cleverness only goes so far. For a person to successfully over a long time survive in a situation you MUST have strength and instincts.

Depends on in what situation you will be.
You'll need a mix of both to survive, you may be very strong, but if you eat some wrong plant, you're dead for sure.

Primitive.

In the wild you can't live on intellect. Of course it's good to prevent yourself from shitting something up but it won't protect you.

Strength is great for hunting, gathering materials, etc.

Depends how you describe "the wild".
If it's in the Desert or something, there's not going to be much use for strength or the sort. (Unless you favor bench pressing grains of sand.) ...You're going to need intellect.
However, if it's in a Tropical Rainforest, or a huge ass area of Woods, you're going to need a balance of both.

In the desert there is, snakes, cacti, various animals, etc. Intelligence is great because the desert has many scorpions hiding under the sand and a primitive man wouldn't really be paying attention to that. On the other side, to kill animals and cut cacti is a really painful task and doesn't really need much intellect to do.

An intellectual man would bring a knife and a small container of water to the Desert before he embarks.
Even if he would not, to cut cacti, he could hope to be lucky enough to find the corpse of a large animal. The ribs could be used as something to cut the cacti. (Unless they've been there too long..)

Camels contain large amounts of edible liquid in them, of course, the primitive man wouldn't know that so... BBQ all day bruh.

Anyways, you're stranded in the wild and not going by choice, at least that's what the thread aims at.
