How do I use a linux vps.

Recommended Posts

Yea, I want windows but the vps company doesnt have windows right now, they said they will get it soon..

Still need help.

Choose a different company then.

I can get you a quality UK Windows VPS if you want.

I wouldn't recommend buying a Linux VPS if you're not familiar with it.

I'm running Linux on my laptop right now so I can get use to it.

Linux is much better than Windows when it comes to servers. However, they aren't as user friendly. Either suck it up and learn a couple things over an hour or two to make yourself at least slightly proficient, or just spend the extra cash on a windows server.

I agree with Trey... Linux ran a server a billion times faster and better just from a 10-year-old computer with 512m ram rather than with windows xp.

If you want quality servers here are your options:

VS-1

10GB Storage

100GB Bandwidth

2 IP addresses

384MB RAM

£9.99 per Month

VS-2

20GB Storage

200GB Bandwidth

3 IP addresses

512MB RAM

£19.99 per Month

A little note on their support, they do my broadband - I got a response in four minutes, it was 11PM on a Sunday night.

Their support is incredible!

EDIT: Nevermind, they're Linux servers.

They don't do Windows VPS' yet.

How much did you save??? $5? $10??

Linux just does not like Java, you will find it hard to work with, I bought Linux 6 months ago to host a server and it failed at that.

You lose a lot of features with windows, like you I was thinking "this would save me money" but in the end I just bought a windows one.

On-Topic

Watch YouTube guides on it, all I can say. YouTube goes into more detail with it.
