1. Hi, I am currently developing a GUI version of my cache library on my own, see Displee's Cache Library for more Information. Cross cache copying Yes, it is possible to copy indices and archives from one cache to another. You are just not able to copy multiple instances, like copying 2 archives or 2 indices at once. It is also not possible to copy a whole cache. Add a cache If you want to link a cache to this application, you must enter an alias (e.g "My 742 cache") to identify the cache. You also need to enter a revision, so the application knows what kind of cache it is using. Managing archives You ca always copy archives from an index to another, the only thing you can't do is copying an archive to the same place. You should use the clone button instead. After all, you can specify which files you want to copy from the archive. Overwrite and replace When you try to copy an index, archive or file, you have the option to overwrite the selected path, or to replace it. Below is explained what the difference between these functions are. In this example we will try to copy archive 538 from index 7 to index 8. The archive we have copied, archive 538, is containing 3 files: 0, 1 and 2. Index 8 is already containing an archive with the id 538, so we will overwrite/replace this archive. This archive is containing 6 files: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 ,5. If we use the overwrite option, it will add the files from the copied archive, to it's destination. The first 3 files in archive 538 from index 8, will be overwritten with the one's of the copied archive, files 3, 4 and 5 will still remain in the archive. If we use the replace option, it will replace the whole archive with the copied one. This means that the files (3, 4 and 5) will NOT remain in archive 538 from index 8. If we want to copy an index, archive or file that already exists in the destination, you will be asked to overwrite/replace it, or you can assign it a new id. This id will be automatic generated. In this dialog you will also see what the id will be. Credits: Me

An ancient dragon named Elvarg has decimated the population of RuneScape down to the city of Falador. The last living white knight army commander, Commander Fortis, has taken hold in Falador and has expanded over time to take hold in other areas of Gielinor. Join us in a unique gaming experience that enables players to explore and thrive, just like the old days. Commander Fortis has set up in the White Knight’s Castle centered in the center of Falador. He has his brother, Pilot Fortis, provide transportation services that take citizens of Fortis to secured areas that he has taken back from the dragon, Elvarg. Players will start off honing their skills in Falador before they reach the total levels required to visit other places in Gielinor. The skills trainable here at home are:
- Thieving - Mining - Smithing - Woodcutting - Firemaking - Fletching - Crafting - Prayer
Training Grounds Once players have reached a total level of 50, they will be able to begin training their various combat-related skills. Commander Fortis has secured his army in the following locations to enable his citizens to prepare themselves for the outer world, especially on a dangerous island like Karamja. Slayer Commander Fortis has made efforts to slay monsters that pose as a threat to Falador. Now that he has a whole city to defend, he needs the help of his citizens to slay those monsters. He decided to appoint Kuradal as the slayer master for his citizens. 3. Welcome to my thread everyone! Elveron Pk is my upcoming second world for my Elveron series. I originally was working on a 718 pking server for quite a while, but then realized that no one wanted to pk on a 667+ server. Therefore, I did a poll and found that 614 was the most popular revision for pking. Although I did make huge progress with tons of content for a 718 pking server, that should be easy to port over to this 614 base considering that bases don't matter, it's all java anyways. I will be working hard to make this one of the most epic and fun pking servers out there in this revision :) bobismyname kaleem A large part of this project is driven by the community. We are looking for active pkers and people with creative ideas that can make this an awesome pking server. I have not come across suggestions or bug fixes that I couldn't solve, so don't be afraid to throw ideas at me. We have a skype group for ideas, discussions, polls, etc. We organize updates, data, polls and such on google docs, and have many ways of communicating with people who are interested in the project. If you are interested to help out, don't hesitate to contact me. One thing you need to know, that this is not a quick process, and by following this guide it can take you anywhere between 30 minutes to one hour to get your server up and running and all that good stuff. Note: I am using a basic 317 server file to explain how to edit, mainly for the fact that not everyone can jump right into understand 508+ revisions. I would also like to note that I explain how to portforward using Linksys, so if you would like to find out how to portforward using your specific router look for the Parting Words, Further Help & Tips section of this tutorial.

Table of Contents Step One: Updating/Getting Java & JDK Step Two: Portfowarding & Porting 43594 Step Three: Setting up Environmental Variables Step Four: Setting up a No-Ip Account Step Five: Finding a Source & Client to use Step Six: Your First Edit! Step Seven: Putting your server on the Status Page End Tutorial: Different Revisions (474, 508, 525+) End Tutorial: Parting Words, Further Help & Tips

Step One: Updating/Getting Java & JDK

To start we are either going to update your Java & See if you have the latest version of JDK or get you these two. You may ask why you need this to run a rsps, and the answer is simple: They are coded in Java. What does JDK stand for? Java Development Kit. If that doesn't explain anything to you, then I don't know what will. But lets get started with the tutorial, shall we? Step 1: The first thing you need to do is find out what version of Java you are currently running to see if you are up to date, and the architecture of your computer (If your running 32 bit, or 64 bit), so the first thing you need to do is visit this URL here. It will let your current Java run the test, and it will show you what you currently have. Please note: I need to know if your running 32 bit or 64 bit, so keep that in mind. Below is a picture of the end result of the test: What is wrong with this picture? Well, to begin you can see I have Java SE 6 Update 29, which you can see by looking left of the red bar. The most current Java I can download right now is 6 update 30, so you always want to make sure that your ahead on that and check every one to two months for a new update. Now, secondly, you can see my computer is running x86 or 32 bit architecture which you can tell by looking left of the green bar. Step 2: So now what do we do? Well first we are going to update your Java by visiting this link. It should just be a web page with a button that says, "Agree and Start Free Download." Click that, and it will start downloading the installer. Step 3: So now that you have your Java updated, we are going to download the latest Java Development Kit, or JDK. If you already have this downloaded, you may skip this part of the tutorial and move on to Step Two. If you are not sure if you have JDK or not, stick around and keep reading. Moving on. If you remember, I had you find out if your computer is running 32 bit, or 64 bit, so this is where that comes into play. You are going to click this link here, and go to the JDK Download page. You should see something similar to the picture below. Step 4: Click what is circled within the black box. After you have done that, you must accept the user agreement. Step 4: Now that you accepted the server agreement, you will now select your download. In the picture below, I have provided dots to show you which one you should click if your running 32 bit or 64 bit. If you are running 32 bit, please click the link by the red dot. If you are running 64 bit, please click the link by the green dot. If you do not click the one that is running your architecture, the installer will fail. Note: x86 is 32 bit, x64 is 64 bit. That concludes the first part to this six part tutorial. If you have had an error, or you have a question about this step or any other step in this tutorial you may PM Ruppich via the forums by visiting this link here. Latest Java: here. Latest JDK: here.

Step Two: Portfowarding

We are now onto step two: Portfowarding. This is a crucial step in getting your server up and running and ready to go on the server status list. Some of you may ask why it is important to port foward? Well, here is a quote from one of the administrators on Runelocus.
"Your PC has hundreds and thousands of virtual ports, think of them as tunnels between your PC and the internet. If these ports were open then anyone could just wonder in to your computer via those ports if they knew the location of them (your IP address). By default all the ports are closed for security reasons so port forwarding for an RSPS opens tunnel number 43594 so to speak. Once this tunnel is open people just need to know your IP; or if you're using a No-IP DNS then they'll need to know that in order to locate the tunnel."
Before I start giving you the steps to this tutorial, I would first like to say I thank Toonshorty for letting me use his images for the porting 43594 part of this step. Our tutorial may look alike in some aspects, but that's because they cover essentially the same thing. I would also like you to note that I am using Windows Vista, so to all of your users out there that are running Windows XP, do not worry. These steps are really similar, so you should have no trouble differentiating the small differences. Step 1: The first step in porting forward is opening up the dialogues needed. The first screen we need opened is your Network and Sharing Center menus, which you can find by either click Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center, or you can open up any folder that has a address bar and paste in Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network and Sharing Center and then press enter as illustrated in the picture below. Step 2: So now that you have followed the step above and found the Network and Sharing Center folder, you will see on the left sidebar Manage Network Connections, you need to click that. The picture below illustrated where it is located. Step 3: Now that you have your Manage Network Connections window open, you will see Local Internet Connection or Wireless Internet Connection. If you are using wireless, then right click that and click properties. If you are using a wired local internet connection, then right click that and click properties. You can see in the picture below me doing just that: Step 4: So now that you have done that you will see a window like one in the picture below. You need to select the checkmarked Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and then click the Properties button. Step 5: Leave this window open. We need to find the information to fill into the blank that are in the window that popped up after you clicked the properties button in the picture above. First, what we are going to do is press Start, and then type CMD into the search bar. Once command prompt opens up, type in IPCONFIG and then press enter. Copy down the IPv4 Address, Subnet Mask, and the Default Gateway numbers, you will need these. Step 6: With the information that you picked up in the last step, use this to fill in the information in the dialogue window that popped up in step 4. The picture below illustrates how I did it correctly, so you can compare the two and see how I did it.

Porting 43594

This part of the tutorial is going to show you how to open up port 43594, the port that most private servers use unless they are hamachi based. I do want to reiterate that I used images from portforward.com because I do not own a Linksys router, but I can explain it just the same. Step 1: The first thing you need to do is type in the Default Gateway address that you found in your command prompt as shown by the pictures in the first part of port fowarding into your web browser. Please note you may be asked to put in a username and password, so there are two possibilities I will provide you with below. Username: Admin Password: Admin Username: Admin Password: Password (read from left to right) Step 2: If you entered the information in correctly you should be greeted with something similar in the image below. Click the Applications & Gaming tab on the bar above. Step 3: You will now see a new menu. You will see there are several links on this window, please click Single Port Forwarding or the Port Range Forwarding tab. Step 4: Enter in the information accordingly. The IP Address is defaulted at 192.168.1.1. If that doesn't work, find your ip address by visiting ipchicken.com and try using that instead of the default.

Step Three: Setting up Environmental Variables

Now that we have ported forward, we are ready to setup our environmental variables that will make sure your compiler and runserver runs smoothly. If you do not have your classpaths for your environmental variables set up correctly you will either get a "The system could not find the path specified" or "java isn't recognized as a internal or external command" errors. So, If you get these errors towards the end of the tutorial, please come back and look through this part more thoroughly. Step 1: You need to open up your System menu. I am using Windows Vista, so I will show you how to do this using Windows Vista. If you are a Windows XP User, please note that this is very similar so there should be no problem for you to differentiate the differences and put them together. You can either find your System menu by doing Start > Computer > System Properties, or you could paste Control Panel\System and Maintenance\System into the address bar of a folder and it could open up that way. Step 2: Now that you have the System menu opened up, you must find the link that says Advanced Settings. It is located on the left sidebar of this menu in Vista, as shown in the picture below. Step 3So now that you have opened the System Properties dialogue, you must click the Environmental Variables button before proceeding to the next step. Step 4: Now that you are in the Environmental Variables dialogue, Click the New button as shown below. Step 5: You will now have something pop up that is similiar to the one shown in the picture below. This is how you should fill in the spaces. Variable Name: CLASSPATH Variable Value: CLASSPATH=C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_25\bin;%CLASSPATH%; Step 6: Repeat Step 4, and put in the following information: Variable Name: PATH Variable Value: C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_25\bin Step 7: Now that you have all that finished, Click ok and your computer should now recognize Java. You are now done with setting up your environmental variables!

Step Four: Setting Up a No-Ip Account Now that you have setup your environmental variables, ported forward, and updated everything, you are ready to setup your own no-ip account. The IP that you create here will be the IP that others will use to connect to your server. Step 1: You need to setup a free VPS with No-Ip, and you can do so by visiting this link here. You should see the image below on the page I linked you to. Click the Signup button, and proceed to the next step. Step 2: After you have clicked the button, you will be presented with the page that is shown in the picture below. Fill out the information truthfully, because you will want to remember this. Step 3: So now that you have filled in your information, signed up, confirmed the email address, selected your operating system, and logged in you are now ready to setup your first no-ip. After you have logged in, you should see a screen like the one in the image below. Click the Manage Hosts button. Step 4: After you have clicked the Managed Hosts button, you will be presented with a page that has a menu like the one show below. Click the Add Hosts button and proceed to the next step. Step 5: After you have clicked the Add Hosts button, you are ready to create your no-ip. Just fill in the information accordingly as shown in the picture below. Your IP Address is already put in for you, so you don't have to find that. Step 6: You can't use a host name that is already taken, as shown in the picture below. After you have found a name suitable for your server, click the Create Host button and you are finished.

Step Five: Finding a Source & Client to use

Now we are ready to find a source and client for you to use. You can only do this after you have followed the previous steps in this tutorial, so If you haven't done so, please go back and read everything you skipped. For this step you need a Runelocus account, because on registered members can view links. You will also need to download the correct Winrar that fits the architecture of your computer here. Step 1: Assuming that you are registered on Runelocus, visit the forum index here. Now scroll down until you find a category that is called RuneScape Private Servers. You will find boards with different revisions (i.e. 317-474, 508-525), but I will be using a 317, so in the 317-474 board click the childboard named Downloads. Step 2: Browse. You know what you want, and each server that is in this section has different characteristics about them they may suit you better. For this tutorial though, I chose to download [317] Source and Client for Beginners [317] by Romanage Dan. You don't have to use this source, you can use any source that is packed with its own client. Step 3: Now download and extract the source to your desktop. After you have it downloaded it will show up in its Winrar folder. You have to extract this to your desktop by dragging it to an open space as illustrated in the picture below. Step 4: Compile the Server & Client. You want to make sure your source/client has no flaws in it so you can begin editing. If they have flaws in it, they will show up as errors in your compiler and will prevent you from making changes to the source. Here is a picture of a compiler that compiled correctly. Here is a picture of a compiler that found errors in the source. Here is a picture of a compiler that doesn't work because you didn't set your environmental variables correctly. So if you have a bad compiler with an error you can't figure out, please visit the forums and post a help topic about it in the appropriate section. If you have a compiler with the 'java' is not recognized error, please go back and review the portfowarding portion of this tutorial. This concludes this section of the tutorial.

Step Six: Your First Edit!

You are doing well if you have made it this far. I will be showing you a basic edit, and that is adding the master command to your server. There is assumed knowledge in this step of the tutorial, so you must know how to make yourself a administrator in your source. I would also like to say I hope you don't skip this step, because it really is essential for having a good server and it gives you a better understanding on how to do basic stuff. Note: You will need to change your character rights for this edit, please visit this tutorial to learn how to do that if you don't know how to already. Step 1: You now need to find your Client.java file, which shouldn't be that hard. After you find it, open it up with a text editing program such as notepad. Step 2: After you have opened up your Client file, I want you to CTRL+F the following: if (command.startsWith. This will find a command that you can add the master command under. Step 3: In the picture above, you will see a red dot. That is where we are going to paste our code snippet for the master command. You always want to add a command right after a bracket of another command if possible, just to keep everything tidy. The code is provided below.

if (command.equalsIgnoreCase("master") && playerRights >= 3) { addSkillXP(14910000, 0); addSkillXP(14910000, 1); addSkillXP(14910000, 2); addSkillXP(14910000, 3); addSkillXP(14910000, 4); addSkillXP(14910000, 5); addSkillXP(14910000, 6); addSkillXP(14910000, 7); addSkillXP(14910000, 8); addSkillXP(14910000, 9); addSkillXP(14910000, 10); addSkillXP(14910000, 11); addSkillXP(14910000, 12); addSkillXP(14910000, 13); addSkillXP(14910000, 14); addSkillXP(14910000, 15); addSkillXP(14910000, 16); addSkillXP(14910000, 17); addSkillXP(14910000, 18); addSkillXP(14910000, 19); addSkillXP(14910000, 20); addSkillXP(14910000, 21); addSkillXP(14910000, 22); addSkillXP(14910000, 23); sendMessage(""+ playerName +" .. you are now maxed out!"); }

Step 4: So now that you have put your command in, save it and then compile it. Now please remember, everytime you make a change to the server/client files you must compile so the changes are saved and will show. Step 5: Runserver and then run your client, and login with your account and type in your new command to see if it works! (::master)

Step Seven: Putting your server on the Status Page

This step should only be done after you completed all the edits and changes that you think are necessary for the first introduction of your server to other players. Step 1: You need to fill in the forms to put your server on the Runelocus server status page. You can do so by visiting this link here. Below is a picture of how to fill out the form to be ready to be submitted. Step 2: That is pretty much it! After you have submitted with the correct information, you should get a confirmation message like the one shown in the picture below.

Different Revisions

What is a revision? Sometimes people will ask you, "Are you developing a 317, or a 508?", or something like that. What they mean is what client cache version (revision) is your server using? Typically, each revision has different characteristics than the previous, mostly major things. Also, a thing to remember is that alot of revisions have information stored in different folders than another revision does, so that is a challenge for alot of people. B elow is Revision 317: Runescape Cache from mid 2006. This revision has everything (or close enough to it), that RS had at up to this time point. Revision 508: RuneScape Cache from mid 2008. The new banking system runescape adopted is in this revision, also HD is in this version aswell. How many different revisions are there? 17+. How do I know this? I looked around RuneLocus a bit, and found this information. Below in the spoiler is a list of programmable version, I'm not going to tell you the distinct differences, but you can assume 317 is the oldest, and 620 is the newest.
317, 377, 474, 459, 503, 508, 510, 525, 546, 562, 569, 578, 582, 602, 612, 614, 620
Is it hard to program other revisions than 317? Not really. The only thing that some people find hard is switching from programming 317 revisions so long, that finding information you need to find in a 508 could be a struggle. As it is, different revisions have information stored differently. So lets say you are trying to find the Characters folder to change your rights in a 508, because you figure it will be in the same folder as a 317. Right/Wrong. You have to navigate through a few folders in a 508 before you find that folder, so you can see how people get confused when using different revisions having this in mind. Below is the a picture of the differences of server folders between 508 & 317. You will see the differences plainly. But I do want to say, if you want to start developing other revisions, please get a decent hold on how 317s work so you will get the basic gist of everything else.

Parting Words, Further Help & Tips, + Portforwarding Guides

Parting Words

So, you have just read this tutorial and figured out how to set up your first server! I would like to congratulate you for following along with this tutorial, and putting forth the effort to make your own server. Now the question is, how does it become successful? Well, what all server successful server owners have in common are their java programming abilities. I highly suggest you start learning how to program Java, it will give you a better understanding on what you are doing when you are following along with other tutorials to help your server, and maybe one day you can make your own code to implement into your server.

Further Help & Tips

I also have some parting tips. Practice, practice, practice. Everyone is always saying how practice makes perfect, and you know what? It's true! If you practice hard enough, you too can become a great server programmer, you just have to put your mind to it. Try reading a few tutorials around Runelocus to get you started, It couldn't hurt! That is how I started on Runelocus 4 years ago, and I can tell you from experience that it has helped me immensely. 11. Runescapepvp.net is a hunger games game, where you play similar to what happened in the movie "Hunger Games". If you haven't seen it, don't worry, I'll explain about the features and what it's all about. How does it work? This is actually a really good question. Basically we have the Runescape map split into smaller parts, such as the Varrock area, which includes the whole city, Sawmill, both mining places and the things surrounding it. The map size vary from place to place, so does the player count. For example on the Varrock map (picture of the maps will come soon), we'll have a 30 player slot count, which means no one can join if there's already 30 players online. You fight to your death basically. You'll start out with nothing, and then you run around the map, trying to find stuff. These stuff can be items, food, armor, weapons etc. they're also spawned in random locations and are not only spawned on the ground but can be in drawers as well! When you die you'll get kicked (or get in spectator mode, TBA). There's no re-spawn no item spawning or anything. We try to keep everything as balanced as we can so different items does different things. For example a long bow shoots almost twice as far as a short bow, and a heavy armor makes you run really slow, such as iron armor, where armor such as Mystic doesn't decrease your movement speed nearly as much. Of course, without inventory and armor/weapons you'll run the fastest, and furthest. In the client there will be a notification in the top right corner (just to the left of the mini-map) that updates every 30 seconds and tells you who the closest enemy is, and approx. how far away he is from you. For donators, this will be slightly faster. At the first days of the project's release (Depending on the amount of traffic and members we will have), we will release the following servers: A (Wilderness Maxplayers: 150) B (Varrock Maxplayers: 30) C (Falador Maxplayers: 50) D (Wilderness Maxplayers: 150) E (Varrock Maxplayers: 30) After each game ends, you can switch to the another server right away! Note: After a very short period of time, depending on the traffic, we will start releasing more and more servers with new maps. We have finally began with the development stage, we will keep you updated on the forums / this thread. Thank you everyone that have supported this project, we will continue with it's development, hopefully this could get any big. Thread will be updated soon with the development progress.

 23. As you might know, recently I made a set of tools for RS2HD, they weren't very advanced, and I didn't put very much time into them. I would like to make a large array of tools that would making developing a server twice as easy. I want to make everything from an NPC Spawner with a working map, to a Shop maker. I want to cover just about every field. This is going to be a large task, so I would love a team mate or two. If you'd like to join as a developer post an application bellow. Progress(text): Started on the Command maker; it's basic but I'm workin' on it.. Progress(media): Team: Arrogance (Ethan).
 24. Yo this is wretched and I am looking for a experienced team. I am the owner of Distinction. Right now it is just me as the owner and I need 3 more people. If you can do all it'd be even better! 1. Web developer / Forum maker / Client maker 2. A Sig maker and a background for the client 3. Another coder / Co - owner .... He will be more dedicated and on more often. If you would like to join either emial me [email protected] or add that email on msn. Or just comment back here Or pm me! Thanks , Wretched
