1. Specifically adding revisions on old downloads, projects, and advertisements shouldn't take long and would help people find things more easily. This might be a bit time consuming though, but it's just a suggestion. At least tagging the very popular and most recent articles/posts shouldn't be too hard.
  2. I have been speaking with @Ikiliki about how we could make RuneLocus more successful than it is. Since we aren't receiving as much active members like we did in 2010, we would like to gather a bunch of your suggestions that would make it as it was before. I decided to write down a bunch of suggestions; and would like you to reply with your suggestion and opinion on mine so the RuneLocus team can view all of the suggestions at once. I'll update your suggestion(s) to the list.

Dark Theme
New Logo
Community and Toplist Store
More Tools
Loyalty Titles (Beside Username)
New Ranks & icons
New Username Glows
New Subscriptions
Forum Marketplace Section (Req: 500 posts and one vouch copy from a staff member to post.)
Signature of the week
More Community Events
Update the rules
Add more website tags so Google redirects "RSPS" to RuneLocus.
Separated RSPS Sections (RS2, Classic and 503+)
Updated Homepage
Daily Tweets of Updates & the Community on Twitter
Longer threads
Thread title glows
More staff members
RuneLocus Wiki
3. is it possible to make it so users have to have atleast 10 posts to start a new topic in the help section ? tired of seeing people join just to ask for help and then never return.
  4. Hope

    Suggestion

Alright, I looked around for about 5 minutes to see if anyone has made this suggestion. From what I saw, nobody has, but I didn't take the time to go through all 44 pages of suggestions, so if this is a copy of someone else's post, feel free to notify me and delete this thread. I'm also not totally "hip" to what Ikiliki has planned for the updates within the next month, so keep that in mind too. What's the idea? Anyway, my main suggestion is to have a sort of database for private server tutorials. Yes, I know that there's the RSPS Tutorials and Snippets forums, but there's major differences in my idea.

All tutorials will be professionally written and looked over for accuracy and readability.
Anyone can write a tutorial, but again.. it has to be looked over by someone to confirm that all its details and contents are accurate. Perhaps have a set group of individuals (RSPS veterans) who are responsible for determining a pass or fail of the tutorial. Tutorials can be revised as much as they want until it receives a pass.
All of the tutorials that pass will be organized (by revision) in a neat way (not necessarily on the forums, but perhaps on another custom page of RuneLocus).
Tutorials could have a "Learning Aspect" in them. For example, a tutorial could include a short bit on why it's important to use a HashMap in the current situation as apposed to some other type of method.
Why support this idea? Beginners of Private Server Development come all over to get help, mostly in the form of questions (help threads), or seeking tutorials. Most of these questions however are from the inability to understand a tutorial that they might have read.. or the tutorial wasn't completely accurate and was missing some vital information. No, we're not trying to spoon feed them, but at least make it so that they can understand what exactly they're adding and why it should be that way.
  5. Well, this is a good suggestion that would allow more people to post, and get more active: Create a store that you can buy custom stuff. What I mean by this: Have a navigation to a store, what the store has to offer are: Color usernames, block the colors to where they cannot be staff colors Bold usernames: Able to buy and make your name bold Custom user titles Bigger avatar size, up to 200x200 avatar size more signature space Able to change others signatures Custom collectors items(make up your own :P) Glow names And more on what you think is better. Now, you should make each one worth alot and money wise comes from this: Each post, you get however many points Upon registratioin you get however many points Each thread gives you a certain amount of points Each thanks you get gives you a certain amount of points Each shout should be worth a certain amount of points Have a bonus if you are active for 10 days Let's make a example: Custom user title - 500 tokuls(whatever money currency you guys choose) Each post you do, is 2 tokkuls EAch thread is 3 Registration is 10 ect ect. Like that This would get the community more packed, and more activity going since you can customize your own profile in any way you want by posting and being active.
  6. Was pondering at the toplist for a while and thought of a decent addition that could be useful. Considering i'm a noob at webdevelopment and I could do it by inspecting the element, i'm sure ikiliki could do it. I'm suggesting we add a button on a servers status page to link them to there advertisement thread. The links input will be o the server's registration page, and will be a simple "fill in" field. This means there is no forum integration, so we can continue to maximize security. To promote forum activity, the field will be limited to "www.runelocus.com/{input here}.php" Benefits:

It promotes Forum Activity
Allows people to put less information on there status page
Allows people looking for a server to see images of there server easily
Allows people looking for a server to get more information about there server and developer more easily
Makes RuneLocus unique as no other toplist I know of has this feature, keeping our title as #1.
Pictures to help you understand better:

Please post your further ideas or opinions on this suggestion :)
  7. As SOTW is dying, I tried to think of an idea to beef it up a bit. Every WEEK people enter SOTW as usual. SOTW awards will include: 1. Being in a staff members signature for the week. 2. Choose next weeks theme (must have approval from staff). 3. Can post the next week's SOTW (must show staff for approval to make sure it includes all the rules etc.) After each MONTH, anyone who has participated in ALL of the month's WEEKLY competitions will be eligible for SOTM. The SOTM theme will always be freestyle. SOTM awards will include. 1. Special SOTM award (already exist) 2. Spot on our forums page (widget exist and Iki doesn't update it weekly so this should make it easier for him.) 3. Special SOTM winner rank (rank exist and Iki doesn't update it weekly so this should make it easier for him.) Lasts for a month As you can see the rewards from SOTM are pretty good and aren't to much of a hassle for Iki to do. This will encourage more people to join SOTW, because simply participating every week makes you eligible for SOTM. Feel free to make changes or whatever, I simply want to see the RuneLocus GFX community prosper.
  8. Really simple and picky suggestion but I am literally sat here trying to think of suggestions because Ziek said to keep the suggestions coming lol. But basically I think the text at the bottom of the forums which says FORUMS LINK ---> should be changed to FORUM THEMES ---> because its pointing to the themes selector but says link and I presume it should be themes. http://puu.sh/3R7p3.png ^ Picture is there.
  9. I suggest that you stop proxies from being allowed to vote.
<?php if ($_SERVER["HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR"]) { if ($_SERVER["HTTP_CLIENT_IP"]) { $proxy = $_SERVER["HTTP_CLIENT_IP"]; } else { $proxy = $_SERVER["REMOTE_ADDR"]; } $ip = $_SERVER["HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR"]; } if (isset($proxy)) { header( 'Location: http://www.runelocus.com' ) ; } ?>
10. 100 posts minimum or a certain total time online to get a badge of any sort as its kinda annoying seeing people with 6 posts and no contribution to the community requesting badges...
  11. Could we add a report button on the chat box so we may report things if/when needed. And maybe a chatbox moderator rank specified to the chatbox.
  12. add new sections to the forums and ban fatmess
  13. There should be an 'any' prefix for rsps related data that could be relevant to any build.
  14. Yo, so I think we should do the radio still. I don't know what happened the last time (was it something to do with the server?), but obviously it isn't up and people seem to still be interested in this. Thoughts?

Schedule for DJs.
Different genres meant for different DJs.
Possible advertisement blocks for servers who pay/are affiliated/etc... These can be short ads like heard on a regular radio station - short and sweet.
If everyday isn't possible or if we are better off, do it every friday/saturday/sunday?
Everyone has a chance to DJ at times.
More to come as I think of them...

17. Hi People. Haven't been on here in a long time but here's a quick suggestion ;) An organized download list :) Meaning a thread that shows all of the available source + client on this forums, and of course kept up to date. Why? Makes what kind of source or client the person is looking for faster and more easier.
  18. axter

    Suggestion ;o

I have a couple; First one: "View all thanked posts by [Name]" Second one: "View all posts/threads started in [TOPIC]" like snippets, etc. Third one: A reputation system would be pretty sick ;p Feel free to hate ;p
  19. We should implement a system were Runelocus members can vote without having to enter a captcha/question.
Vote manually or login/register to vote without captchas
20. I was wanting to get around to this when I was still an admin, but unfortunately things don't work out. Archive all the tutorials that are actually informative, useful, and provide high-quality content that deserve some recognition but instead get piled up in the usual sum of crap that get posted every now and then. This is appropriate for the RSPS boards, and even web development. Not only will this inspire people to be better tutorial writers, but it will also inspire better content which can also help server owners look for that next big feature rather than a subtle command or new interface. Keep quantity alive, but put quality where it deserves.
  21. I've seen shoutboxes like the one that you have here, and am strongly against them. They are too small and cramped up and it's actually quite hard the read. Just a suggestion.. Haters gonna hate. Kind Regards, Wyatt.
  22. I think that there should be more smilies added. There isn't much a selection at the minute, just an idea. This may be just a small thing, however it could improve communications throughout the forum.
  23. Do something about this rivalry, it's getting annoying as fuck now.
  24. The new theme is cool and all, but I really dont like how its "Fixed" maybe make a "Fluid" one for the people who like bigger forums. Edit: yes I know you can hide the recent post stuff and make it a bit bigger but its still Fixed >.<
  25. For the people who report all the threads and help the mods. Enough Said.
