1. So i've been trying to make my client a .jar file so I can share it with some friends, I have completed the steps needed to get a working Cachedownloader and the the cache is downloaded to my C://drive automatically. However when I try to run my client I get the following error message.. (Left side is my client loader-right side is my actual client) I have messed with my cache files and what not and tried re-downloading them to dropbox, I have some folders in my client along with my cache labeled "Classes,Raw,Sign,Sprites" I have tried both downloading the cache with those folders added to the cache folder and have tried it without them added. I have teamviewer and can use that for help, I am pretty stuck right now so any help is appreciated..

 5. What are we doing? Showing you the correct way to setup your auto-cache download. What is this used for Well, mostly web clients but it also helps your client download not be 100mb+ Difficulty:1/10 What you need: Client, Cache, dropbox account or your own webhost, and prefferably winRar Part 1: How to properly zip your cache. Ok, so just everyone knows, there is a specific way to zip your cache so it unpacks correctly into the C: and it goes like this. Step 1. Make a new .zip archive Step 2. Highlight all the files in your cache. (NOT JUST THE FOLDER) It should look like this: Step 3. Drag the folders contents over to your .zip archive you just made. (Make sure it's open.) Step 4. You don't really have to do this but I put my compression mode on best. Step 5. Let all the files you dragged over go into the .zip and then close and name the .zip file to the name of your cache. Congratulations you have just zipped your cache the proper way. Part 2: Uploading your cache to a hosting site. Now there are 2 ways you can do this, the first way being dropbox and the second way is using your own webhost. Dropbox method: Step 1. Go to http://www.dropbox.com and make an account if you don't have one. Step 2. Go to the public folder... Step 3. Upload your cache into the public folder. Step 4. Get the public link It should look something like this
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/22768135/My Cache Name Here.zip
That is the dropbox method. Your own webhost method. (May not work with ALL webhosts) Step 1. Open up your ftp and go to your website. I use Filezilla. Step 2. You don't have to do this but I made a download file so it would look like this http://yoursitehere.com/download/yourcachenamehere.zip Step 3. Put your cache into your download folder. It should look like this: Now you're done adding your cache to your webhost. http://yoursitehere.com/download/yourcachenamehere.zip This link should get you to it unless you have a different directory, but it's pretty straight forward. Part 3: Making your client download the cache you want it to download. Part 1. Open up CacheDownloader.java and look for this:
private String cacheLink =
You should see something like this:
private String cacheLink = "Link to cache goes here."; // Link to cache
Put the link to your cache into their. Save and close the file. Part 2. Open up Client.java and look for:
new Update(
You should see something like this:
new Update("Link to Cache here", "MyCacheNameHere.zip", signlink.findcachedir());
Put the information you want into the appropriate spaces. Close and save. Part 3. Compile and you're done! Congratulations you just setup your own auto-cache download. Let me know if I forgot anything.

 7.
( )scape is loading.. java.util.zip.ZipException: error in opening zip file at java.util.zip.ZipFile.open(Native Method) at java.util.zip.ZipFile.<init>(Unknown Source) at java.util.zip.ZipFile.<init>(Unknown Source) at java.util.zip.ZipFile.<init>(Unknown Source) at Update.unZipFile(Update.java:53) at Update.<init>(Update.java:29) at client.streamLoaderForName(client.java:4949) at client.startUp(client.java:9418) at RSApplet.run(RSApplet.java:33) at client.run(client.java:6334) at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)
I've looked at other peoples posts and have not seen one person completely get their problem solved. And this one is just the same. I took the following steps to make sure "Nothing" could have gone wrong with the start process of zipping the cache 1.) Created Winrar-Zip 2.) Moved Files from "Rar" cache into Winrar.Zip(I even tried with an already extracted cache and it still didn't work.) 3.)Rename .Zip to server name. 4.) Upload to Dropbox 5.) Change AutoCachelink (Worked fine before) 6.) Fix signlink (Have had this repaired twice already, and worked fine before) 7.) Update client 8.) Run server And I keep getting the same error OVER and OVER again....Its irritating because the Cache file for some odd reason, can't be unzipped...But its a .ZIP file :confused: .So this error doesn't make any sense at all to me. Its like the autocache can't even do anything with it. I know its getting to the dropbox or it would just give me some error about connecting. But its completely unable to load it just because it can't UnZIP the file. I really need help with this. This is one of those little things that has a major impact. :(
