1. Awesome! Although... I see no cows to kill. Disappointed. You are a disgrace to the household and you are hereby banished. Bone head.
rm -rf /
2.
This weekend, I had few dollars to buy some candies. When coming back home, my dog jumped on me to have some sex, but I replied with a nice punch in the nuts. Weekend finished and all went good. Naice conversation :)
LOL. I want this man on our quest development team. Anyway, several personal setbacks occurred, but I can assure you all that the template is coming along nicely!
  3. YAY. I promise to get the site looking nice as soon as possible. And the forum theme. I'M WORKING ON IT. And I love you all.
  4.
Something { position: absolute; left: whatever; top: whatever; right: whatever; } by the way, 50 auto 50 auto you cant do, it would have to be margin:50px auto; cant have 2 autos lol.
You can; but there's not much point if it's going to be the same value :P
#something { margin: 50px auto; } /* is the same as */ #something { margin: 50px auto 50px auto; }
Just add an #id or .class to your form and access that with the CSS. E.g:
<form id="plans"><!--FORMDATA--></form>
Which you would just access in CSS with:
#plans { position: absolute; /* positioning */ }
Although I don't know why you'd need absolute positioning - just use margins! Also, you've opened a table twice (once for width, once for valign - make those into one tag) and haven't closed the second one. A table in a table for no good reason! It is encouraged to not use tables for layout; vBulletin is guilty of this too.

    One quick thing to do with your CSS: You can consolidate this:
background-image: url('images/BG.png'); background-repeat: repeat-x; background-position: left top;
Into:
background: #f5f5f5 url('images/bg.png') repeat-x left top;
Where the #f5f5f5 is the color behind the image, in case it doesn't load, or if you want color behind a transparent image.
  6. I'm sure with some lively, dynamic content you could spruce this up a bit! Image heavy designs are very hard to pull off!
  7. That's true, but was just using it as an example; should have been a bit more liberal! Sometimes certain data can be cached and have no terribly detrimental effects - like how thread view/reply counts aren't immediately updated, to save on two queries per category (on the front page) - which is a lot!
  8.
Gave me an idea. I've also set some caching settings on our DDoS filter/proxy for static pages.
Caching static (yet still generated) pages is great. For things like the toplist (not sure what you've done with caching but) you could give it even a 5 minute cache life, so you cut down on a lot of generation - it just has to regenerate every 5 minutes (provided there's an access then) rather than on every access. Also, replacing phrases with text inline saves time too.
  9. This definitely helps and should be default everywhere! - As Mike said it makes the CSS cacheable, and saves a lot of time and bandwidth. Something struck me as strange; I checked out the outputted HTML a couple of days ago and the CSS was already stored in a file, a VB4 default I believe. However, it now seems to run much faster - even with no notable change in the source. I think it may have something to do with live disk caches of the CSS, not sure :P Doesn't matter, it's a lot faster for me now, that's good enough! Another way to speed things up is to hardcode a lot of the style variables, and put them into the CSS too; VB is notorious for its use of tables with inline generated CSS! TABLES FOR LAYOUT + INLINE CSS MAKES HEIST MAD. Here are some more ideas: http://developer.yahoo.com/performance/rules.html - this page is invaluable! A short list overview:

CSS @ Top
JS @ Bottom
Add expires headers so things cache
Concatenate and consolidate your CSS/JS
Less images! If it's unavoidable, make them into a CSS sprite
Host some files on a different server/subdomain (cookieless too!) to minimize HTTP requests and bandwidth

10.
SMF is open source and great! but the features of vBulletin aren't comparable to any other forum software.
http://www.invisionpower.com/products/board/
Looks amazing, good job !
Thanks a lot! I'll be working on some other things too, need to get back into the PS swing!
  13.
You're covering a lot of advanced material in your quote, therefore I won't be adding it. I'm working on beginners, and the end result will be transforming these beginners into advanced Java programmers.
"Deterministic Parallel Java" sounds advanced to me xD
